‘A Magical Morning Treat’

Toch nog een recensie. En dat is op zichzelf al heel bijzonder.
Want het is hier verschrikkelijk groot – ik heb even gezocht en vond wat cijfers over het festival van vorig jaar: er waren toen op 247(!) speelplekken ruim 2000 (!!) verschillende voorstellingen die bij elkaar ruim 31000 (!!!) keer werden opgevoerd.
Dit jaar zullen die cijfers ongetwijfeld hoger liggen, dus het is speciaal als je een recensie weet te scoren.
Dit is onze tweede, in Three Weeks dit keer:

Frog
Theater Terra

Simple but effective, 'Frog' is children's theatre written in bold print, with a bright palette of puppetry, music and movement. Like a giant pop-up book, a simple but effective set creates bright landscapes with stunning dimensional reach, in which we see Frog and his animal friends gaze through giant binoculars into the distance and travel through woodland, under the sea and across chilly snow. A talented singer and violinist provides highlights of live music over a recorded soundtrack of catchy tunes children will enjoy, while talented puppeteers expertly operate the characters. Perhaps particularly suited to the youngest audiences (4+), there is nonetheless something for children of all ages in Max Velthuijs's enchanting stories. A magical morning treat.

Trouwens, Tim Key, jeweetwel, die Engelse comedian die bij veel voorstellingen ondersteund werd door onze Claire op viool, heeft de Fringe Award gewonnen. En ik denk dat ik namens ons allen spreek als ik zeg: Bravo Claire! Zonder jou was het nooit iets geworden met die jongen!
